It gives a bit more Physical and Magic defense, weighs ever so slightly less, and it's easier to upgrade since you don't need to dump 40 pieces of Twinking Titanite into it. Slightly higher 'typed' defences than black knight set (stab/slash/lightning) but lower standard, fire and curse defences.
